After this thread, Scott storms up to give Logan a piece of his mind. The conversation doesn't quite go as expected, and surprisingly, there is actually no breaking of Scott's hand on Logan's jaw today.

I put everything that was important in there! )

Scott may be in a very bad place, emotionally-speaking, but that doesn't mean he doesn't recognize that he needs help. Making an appointment set up a few days ago, rough night or not, is just a first step.

Right on time. )

Logan catches up on some of the events that transpired during his absence and goes in search of Scott.

When beer doesn't make it all better. )

Scott ventures back into his office for the first time since his rescue, only to discover that things have indeed been looked after in his absence, and there's no work to bury himself in. (Damn.) Shiro stops by to see how he's doing.

They didn't cover post-torture conversational techniques in X-Men training... )

Jean's known since the team rescued Scott that what she did in the missile silo is a Problem. Charles finally convinces her that the only way to fix it... is to leave.

'...hold me like you'll never let me go. / I'm leaving on a jet plane / I don't know when I'll be back again...' )

Scott ventures outside. Well, only as far as the porch. Ororo comes out to keep him company, and the two of them have their first real talk about what happened.

I shouldn't be sitting out here brooding. )

Scott's finally out of Amelia's clutches the makeshift greenhouse-infirmary and back in his own suite. Betsy stops in to see him before she heads back to New York. This conversation goes a whole lot better than their last.

I didn't mean to disturb you. )

Being injured makes you popular. Scott gets another visitor to his greenhouse hospital bed. This one brings entertainment.

You make me happy when skies are gray )

Another greenhouse/infirmary encounter. Thankfully, this one ends relatively well. There's even singing.

Skies were gray but they're not gray anymore. )

Paige has asked to be on rotation during the night. Scott decides to wake up when he's not supposed to. They dance around the issue before finally meeting headfirst; it's really not pretty. They haven't really solved anything, but they're halfway through the equation and both of them manage to sleep a little by the end. Count how many issues come up, just don't make it a drinking game unless you want to pass out.

As much as you seem to think you’ve jumped into backwards land, Scott, this is all still just as you left it. )

Scott wakes up to find Jean sitting with him. He's not so far out of it that he doesn't notice there's something a little off with her. But they both notice something else, too.

Cloudless skies. )

Ororo is down by the lake desperately trying to find some peace and quiet after the day's mission. Nate spots her and comes by to talk, though he's a bit surprised at what he finds out. He reminds her of some important truths, however, and maybe some peace is at hand after all.

Possibly I'm not as useless without the telepathy as I thought. )

Scott wake up to discover that he's a) not in the infirmary, and b) his little brother is attached to his bed. To say that the brothers Summers are relieved to see each other is somewhat understating the case, but Scott's not really coherent enough for much of a conversation.

'Alex... you all right?' 'Yes, you idiot.' )

Upon being brought back to the mansion, Scott is immediately rushed down to the infirmary. Amelia discovers that he needs more than just bandages and IV fluids, and prompts Forge to come up with an innovative solution.

how soon can you move him if you did your little green whoosh thing? )

Ororo's team arrives in Wyoming, and small team or not, the X-Men descend on the missile silo like the proverbial wrath of God. While they're dealing with Lyman's people, Jean slips away to find Scott.

And she does.

Fierce as the tiger, madder than the seas / Desperate and armed with more than human strength. )

One of the search teams had to get lucky at some point. Kurt and Jamie, in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming, are the fortunate pair.

What I wouldn't give for some X-ray vision to see inside. )

Inside the missile silo, Scott's sinking fast, but Charles, with Kurt and Jamie's help, throws him a lifeline. It works - for a little while.

Waiting for the cavalry... )

Reaching the very end of his endurance, Scott has another visitation. Paige doesn't bring her giant gag sunglasses this time, but maybe that's all right.

Silly Captain, what're you doing lying on the floor? )

Nathan, still faithfully manning the coms, abruptly finds himself with small, red-haired, distraught company. He's not all that reassuring, but can't be, having been in Scott's current position himself in the past. Terry, thankfully, isn't there for platitudes.

'Everyone is doing everything they can.' 'It's not enough!' 'No, it's not.' )

Elsewhere, a moment of reciprocity. Terry was thinking about Scott, and he's thinking about her.

You can't be here. It's not safe, they'll find you. )
