Snapshots in the wake of setting a plan in motion: Nathan gets a pep talk from MacInnis, takes a walk with Domino, and gets a request from GW's ghost.

After a restful afternoon and evening, Nathan and Moira have a very calm, matter-of-fact conversation about how to ruin Gideon's life. Ahem.

A very quiet declaration of war. )

After the quarry, Nathan attempts to destress by spending some quality time with Rachel. Although his first encounter with the new counselor reopens the wound all over again, it turns out Haller's 'speciality' leaves him imminently suited to address at least part of Nathan's problem.

It's just so hard to want to let go. )

Nathan, as he discussed with Jennie, is trying to write something about GW for public consumption when he makes the mistake of checking the email account he used to communicate with GW when he was in Africa. Waiting patiently to be read since the previous week is an unexpected email - from Gideon. Nathan goes out to the quarry to blow up some rocks, and is eventually coaxed back inside by Angelo. He finally breaks down on Moira, and then, much later, has yet another ghostly visitation.

Why wilt thou add to all the griefs I suffer... )
The grief of a man should not exceed proper bounds, but be in proportion to the blow he has received. )
The only cure for grief is action. )
Light griefs are communicative, great ones stupefy. )
He mourns the dead who lives as they desire. )

Jennie's eating a solitary lunch when Nathan, instead of doing the same, joins her. The conversation starts out innocuously enough, but leads to Jennie wondering aloud just what the funeral was about. And Nathan tells her. Everything. Jennie is a surprisingly good listener, and has a very good suggestion.

Rosemary for remembrance. )

Nathan and his superhuman long-suffering therapist go over the events of the week. Amazingly, Nathan is doing better than he was the last time Jack did grief counseling with him, and not just because he should be getting used to this.

They're still drinking coffee. One day, the Scotch will make an appearance. )

(OOC: Many thanks, again, to Tap for socking Jack for me.)

Haroun convinces Nathan to head into the city with him for dinner for a real Moroccan meal. It's a very good meal, until Nathan looks up and sees his father sitting across the room. (Yes, the restaurant is still standing when they leave.)

Two's company, three's a crowd. )

Nathan stayed a little longer after the funeral than most of the others, for understandable reasons. He's wandering the halls of the castle, alone - and then not.

Wanda's out on the porch just collecting her thoughts when Theo happens by. There is much comforting.

Nathan can't sleep, even with the Pack safely arrived. Moira keeps him company, of course, and they manage to make a few of the necessary decisions regarding GW's funeral.

Taking him home. )

Nathan finds Alison keeping watch in the Situation Room, looking for reports of any kind of disturbance in Tunis.

No word yet. )

Nathan and Cain head into the city to meet Bridge for lunch. Gideon gets to the restaurant a few minutes before them, makes small talk until Nathan gets within synching range, and then uses his telekinesis to kill GW.

Out in New York on Monday afternoon, Alison finds out that it's a small world after all as she runs into GW, who's walking off his jetlag and doing a little window-shopping.

Coincidence was a funny thing. )

Much later that night, Nathan, unable to sleep in his too-quiet suite, calls his friend at the hotel. He and GW have one of those terribly introspective conversations.

Why aren't you asleep? )

Their last night with the nomads, Haroun finally eats something besides MREs. He and Nathan snipe at each other on a number of subjects, but also touch on a couple of more productive topics (at least potentially). Nathan indulges just a wee bit too much in fermented mare's milk, and his precognition chooses a singularly bad time to kick in.

The noodles have no horsemeat in them. Eat the noodles. )

Early in the morning, Nathan and Angelo go out for a ride (one that Angelo enjoys a great deal more than Haroun did his). They talk a bit of strategy for the afternoon's meeting with the Minister of the Interior, and Nathan also broaches an unrelated if still important subject to his loyal assistant.

Ready to play politics? )

In Almaty, Nathan finagles himself and Angelo into the office of the Interior Minister, who's very distressed to see the evidence accumulated thus far about the school. It's not a conclusion, but it's a promising beginning.

Good men and good intentions. )

Wanda and Nathan go back to the school. Not as Helga and Hans this time. There's sneaking and raiding of files, and a couple of nasty surprises.

So much for proper channels. )

Moira is trying to catch her breath after a very busy morning on Muir when an uninvited and very unwelcome visitor chooses that moment to appear. Moira doesn't have any idea what Gideon wants, but knows that she can't let him anywhere near her patients - or her daughter. She goes out to meet her "uncle", and after some verbal sparring, gets the opportunity to do something that Nathan and a large number of other people have probably been yearning to do for months.

Yes. She shoots him. Unfortunately, this doesn't stop Gideon from getting what he wants.

What's a flesh wound between family? )

Nathan and Wanda, posing as Helga and Hans, German journalists, make a visit to the school for young mutants. A few interesting discrepancies are noted.

I saw this in a movie once... )
