The roomies reunite - and celebrate with a few drinks.
It was a sight the giantess certainly hadn't expected to see. Only a month away and this happened? After all the hard work and time and effort she'd put into it! With a small smirk, Lil crept up behind her former roommate who, blissfully unaware of the sneak attack, was refilling her margarita glass.
Of her own freewill.
"You know, I heard that stuff can be pretty dangerous in the wrong hands. Maybe, you should leave it for the professionals," the Canadian quipped.
Amara yelped at the sudden intrusion, hurriedly steadying her hand lest she spill any of the precious alcohol. She then laughed at Lil's comment, looking just a little bit sheepish as she finished pouring the drink.
"I'm just following orders," she said with a grin, turning properly so she could look at her roommate. It had only been a month since Lil had left, but to be honest, Amara did feel like it had been a lot longer. A lot had happened since then, and even if Amara was still working through her issues, she was at least letting herself relax and have fun (or drown her frustrations, whatever was necessary).
"Like the good, little trainee," the taller blonde replied, unable to wipe the pleased smile off her face. She'd missed the bubbly woman she'd shared a room with - and it showed. "How's things? You start classes yet? Summers kicking your ass in the Danger Room weekly?" The questions popped one after another out of her mouth in a rush of words as the Canadian started to pour herself a drink.
"Well, I learnt from the best." The grin was still on her face, she was so pleased to see Lil again. "Things have been pretty busy, actually. I went home for a few days, I'll tell you all about it later if you like. Classes are about to go back, I'm really looking forward to it. And training is the same as always, I still don't think I'll ever really get the hang of it." But that doesn't mean she wasn't going to try. Her grin faded to a softer smile as she took a sip from her drink. "How's everything back home?" Amara wasn't sure if Lil wanted to talk about it, especially since she just arrived, and she wasn't going to pry. ... yet.
One shoulder rose and fell in typical Lil fashion before she finished pouring and took a long draw from the glass. "It's moving along in the right direction, at least. Back in Toronto now and Maddy's getting outta the hospital next week so I've been getting the house ready for him, mostly. Which is why I'm here now; get my stuff before he's home. Well, and because of Johnny's birthday," she added with a jerk of her head toward the white-haired teen. "Sounds like your month's been a lot more interesting. You went home?"
"Oh that's good," she said with a slightly brighter smile. "I'm glad to hear that, I hope they keep.. moving that way." Amara didn't want to push Lil too much about it right now, maybe she'd ask her more later on. "Just for a few days! My father invited me down, and I took a few people down with me. It was..." Amara paused, trying to think of how to explain it. "Well, it was fantastic, really. I think they're going to be talking about Cammie for months."
"She is pretty memorable," the giantess replied with a nod followed by another sip. "I'm happy you had a good time. Jealous that I didn't get to go with you but happy for you, Cookie. Going home should be a fantastic thing." She knew for many at the school, it never was but Lil was pleased Amara had had a good time.
"Next time I go, you will have to come with me. Even though you will be living in Canada, we should still remain friends. And I am sure my father would love to meet you." He'd heard enough about it, that was for sure.
A nod of Lil's blonde head sealed it. "Deal. I'd return the favor but I don't think you'd wanna go up to Yellowknife to meet Daddy or not. Definitely not your kinda place, Cookie." She smiled again and reached out to squeeze Amara's wrist affectionately. "And damn right we're still gonna be friends!"
"I'd be happy to visit you wherever you are, Lil!" She said with a big smile, raising Lil's squeeze with a one-armed hug of her own, carefully keeping her drink from spilling with her other hand. "It is not the same without you here."
"You'd be a frozen wad of cookie dough," the brick replied, looping her arm casually around Amara's middle while likewise keeping careful hold of the alcohol. "Speedy and the kid already got me promising to visit a buncha times so I'm sure you won't miss my face too much. Bet you don't mind not getting woken up at three am every morning though when I came in from Harry's."
"... oh maybe. But I can defrost myself! So I might be okay." She laughed, squeezing Lil briefly. "And good! I would be very sad not to see you again." She looked a little sheepish at Lil's last comment. "I never minded you waking me up! But I have to admit, I might have had a late night or two of my own with Tabitha."
Lil mimed an arrow to the heart, her hand going to her chest as she staggered playfully. "Replacing me with another blonde already? Cookie, I'm hurt!"
Amara laughed once more, as she tried to stop the grin on her face from spreading wider. "She's not nearly as hard on me in the gym," she said jokingly, "and we've been drowning our sorrows over the ridiculousness that is Manuel."
"He's still giving you trouble? Shit, Cookie! Don't go drowning your sorrows 'causa him." Lil shook her head, causing the long ponytail to swing back and forth as she put her glass down and took her former roommate by both shoulders, forcing the shorter woman to look her in the eye. "He ain't worth it. All that man does is cause trouble. My best advice? Ignore him - and save the liquor for happier events."
"He's being..." Amara didn't even know how to explain it, so she just waved a hand. "I can't figure him out, but I'm not convinced he's as bad as everyone thinks he is. As he thinks he is." Amara frowned a little at that. "Anyway, I don't want to talk about him anyway. We're supposed to be having fun!"
"Agreed!" Lil wasted no time in picking up her margarita once more and clinking its rim against Amara's. "To forgetting about the men who drive us to drink. At least for the next few hours, anyway."
