log: amara and lil

When the loss of her usual powers leaves Amara feeling the cold, it's Lil to the rescue.

Amara didn't usually feel the cold - one of the side effects of her powers was that she always ran hot. It made the winter easier, she usually didn't have to worry about rugging up beyond keeping the cold wind and rain off. So when she'd started getting cold as the sun had gone down while she was outside reading she'd been a little confused, and heading back to her room hadn't really helped either. She'd ended up digging up one of the ESU hoodies she'd acquired somewhere along the way, before heading over to see Lil. Amara didn't have any spare blankets of her own lying around, but maybe her roommate did. It had been a long time since Amara had needed anything to sleep under. She knocked on Lil's door, wrapping her arms around herself as she waited

"Come in. It's open," Lil called, her voice sounding vaguely distant. The giantess was seated at her computer, frowning over something as the door opened before looking up at her suite-mate. "What's up, Cookie?" she asked, brushing a lock of blonde hair from her face. A cami and a pair of terrycloth shorts was all she wore despite the early - for her - hour of the night. "Something I can do?"

Amara let herself in, her lower lip caught between her teeth as she gnawed on it absently. "Uh, yeah, I was just wondering if you had a spare blanket or anything lying around." Amara wasn't really sure she wanted to bring up the fact that her being cold was weird, she wasn't really sure... what she thought about that. Because it was weird.

The taller woman's brow drew in a hard line at the request. Blanket? For Amara. "Uh, not really. I don't use them." Her bio-aura kept out the cold and heat alike, leaving Lil with no real need for any extra protection from temperatures at night. Only a thin sheet lay atop her mattress and that was more out of habits borne from nights with Madison than anything else. "Why do you need one?"

"This is going to sound weird, but..." Amara looked away from Lil, shifting her weight from foot to foot before replying. "I'm actually... feeling kind of cold." It had been a long time since she'd been able to feel the change in temperature like this - to be somewhat precise, the last time had been before she'd manifested her powers.

Lil's frown deepened and she slipped off her chair to move to her closet. "You sick or something?" she asked, pulling open the doors then began to search through a few of the boxes she never really took the time to unpack just in case there was a throw or something of that nature she'd forgotten about.

Amara shook her head at that, finally uncrossing her arms to tuck some hair behind her ear nervously. "I don't think so? At least I don't really feel sick. Just... cold. Almost like I can feel what the temperature actually is."

"Huh," was all Lil could think of to say at first, her head in the closest as she continued to search. "This kinda thing happen before? With being stressed or I don't know, anything like that?" A cold Amara didn't sound like a healthy creature given her powers even if the girl claimed not to feel ill.

"No, not ever." She wrapped her arms around herself again, trying not to give into panicking or freaking out. Getting emotional was not going to help her at all. "The last time I felt the cold was before my powers manifested. This is... definitely something new."

The Canadian frowned again, even as she removed an old crocheted child's throw from the box. "This is all I got but it's not gonna keep you very warm," she said almost as an apology and stood. "Have you talked to Jean or Dr. Voight yet?

"No, I don't think it would." She shook her head again at the mention of the doctors. "No, not yet. I thought I'd just... sleep on it, see what happened. It might just be a weird glitch or something? And I'd be fine again in the morning. Once I'd slept on it."

"You sure, Cookie?" Lil asked and handed over the blanket anyway. "I could go with you if you wanted," came the offer along with another frown. Anything even remotely powers related, the taller blonde did not like to mess with. She considered herself very fortunately after hearing horror stories of losing control and fluctuations and other such things.

Amara attempted a smile as she took the blanket from Lil, hugging it against her chest once she did. "Maybe if it is still like this in the morning? I don't want to worry anyone if it's just nothing." She bit down on her lip again, still nervous. "Well, of course, also assuming I can get some sleep tonight."

The taller blonde looked from her suitemate to her own bed and back before sighing. God, this place was making her soft. "If you promise not to make me sick, too, I guess you can stay here?" Lil offered, jerking her head toward the mattress. "You gotta keep you hands to yourself, too, and see Jean in the morning but I've been told I'm pretty damn good for body heat."

"I promise. No making you sick, and I will certainly keep my hands to myself." She smiled properly at that. "And I will see Jean first thing in the morning. Thank you Lil, this is very kind of you."

"Don't mention it. To anyone," Lil replied, motioning to the bed again though her tone was clearly mirthful. "A little early for me to turn in but go ahead and snuggle up if you want and I'll play Space Heater in about a half-hour."

"My lips are sealed," she said with a little bit of a laugh. "Let me just go finish getting ready for bed, and I'll be back. Thank you again, Lil."

The taller blonde smirked at her friend. "You're welcome, Cookie. But I am serious about the not telling anyone; not unless you want to be scarlet for a week and hear Dylan's Blonde on Blonde album everytime we walk into the Danger Room."

Amara laughed. "You shouldn't be so worried about people knowing you can be nice. But I promise, I will not say a word."

"Cookie, I was thinking more about your reputation," she laughed, and added a little wink before looking back at her computer.

"Oh, I think it will be fine! Or at least, I do not think I have much of a reputation to worry about." She grinned, ducking out of the room so she could go clean her teeth and pack up the mess she'd made in her room looking for a sweater and some blankets.
